EISTEDDFOD WA BALA
Wel, dyma ni unwaith eto, yr Eisteddfod ar y gorwel, tro hwn yn ardal Bala.
Mi fyddwn yno ar y Sadwrn cyntaf, dwi hefyd yno Dydd Iau a Dydd Gwener cynt yn gosod carafan ac adlen i fyny i fy rhieni, ond ni fyddaf yno yn ystod yr wythnos.
Be fyddem yn ei weld yw unigolion dosbarth canol Cymreig a Chymraeg yn cerdded o amgylch y maes efo copi o'r "western mail" dan y fraich (er nad ydynt am 51 wythnos arall o'r flwyddyn yn ei brynu), ambarel ar y fraich arall, yn swagro a sefyllian er mwyn cael eu gweld ar er mwyn gweld eraill.
Blynyddoedd yn ol o fod yn lafnyn 8 oed i fyny, roeddwn bob blwyddyn yn gweithio i'r diweddar Eurig Wyn, gwneud bathodynau un flwyddyn, gwerthu breichledi i ddynion, oriawr cymraeg a pob math o geirach tebyg, gan hefyd gwerthu argraffiadau oedd yn llawn rhegfeydd, ac innuendo am rhyw a ballu yn ddi-arwybod o'i cynnwys, heb son am eu deallt. Tydi'r Eisteddfod ddim yr un fath, heb Eurig fod yn tynny'r swyddogion bob ffordd, yn gosod byrddau tu allan i'r babell er mwyn fod yn un o'r cyntaf i werthu cyfansoddiadau y cadeirio.
Tad Eurig (y diweddar Parchedig Price Wyn) fedyddiodd fi yng Nghapel Cefn y Waun, fo hefyd benderfynodd fy ngalw yn Aeron.
Collodd Cymru a'r byd Gymro Cymraeg go iawn pan adawodd Eurig ein plith, llawer rhy fuan, ac mae ei stori am y ci yn gyfranddalwr yng nghwmni BT dal yn y cof fyth heddiw. - Ond stori arall ydi honno.
Well here we are again, with the Eisteddfod nearing closer every day, this time in Bala.
I shall be there on the first Saturday, and I am also there the previous Thursday and Friday, setting up my parent's caravan and awning, but I won't be there during the week.
What we see there are middle class self important individuals who walk the field with the Western Mail under one arm and a brolly under the other (although they never buy the Western Mail for the other 51 weeks). They will be swaggering and standing so that they are seen and to also see others.
Many years ago from being an youthful 8 year old upwards, I used to work for the late Eurig Wyn , making badges one year, sellig watches, sellign bracelets for men and other nic nacs, also selling publications full of swear words, and sexual innuendos unaware of it's content or even understanding of their meanings.
The EIsteddfod is not the same without Eurig winding up the officials with his antics, he used to set up a table to sell "Y Cyfansoddiadau" right outside the exit from the main pavilion, so that he would be the first to sell them and also the biggest seller.
His father (the late Rev Price Wyn) baptised me, and also was responsible for naming me Aeron at Cefn y Waun Chapel, over 43 years ago.
Wales lost a true Welshman when Eurig left us, way too early, and his story about his dog becoming a shareholder in BT is still in my mind - But that's another story.
